FRED COOKSON

PUXICO -- Funeral service for Fred Cookson of Puxico will be held at 10 a.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico. The Rev. Ray Placher will officiate, with burial in Puxico Cemetery.

Cookson, 90, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, at Pine Lawn Residential Care II.

He was born Dec. 26, 1905, at Puxico, son of Henry Clay and Rosena Payton Cookson. He and Grace M. Townsend were married Oct. 28, 1927. She died Oct. 14, 1987.

Cookson was a lifelong resident of Puxico. He was a member of Kinder General Baptist Church, and served as a deacon 50 years.

Survivors include a son, Paul Cookson of Granite City, Ill.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and a sister.
