PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Fred W. Bodenschatz Jr., 77, of Perryville died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 23, 1924, at Wittenberg, Mo., son of Fredrick W. and Lydia Verseman Bodenschatz. He and Hazel Moll were married April 24, 1948.
Bodenschatz was a retired farmer and had worked at Gilster-Mary Lee. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 133 and VFW Post 4282.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Anna Berkbuegler, Cindy Hedge and Sherry Bodenschatz, all of Perryville; three sisters, Leona Dollard and Viola Aronnson of St. Louis, Cordelia Darcy of Leslie, Mo.; a brother, Robert Bodenschatz of House Springs, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday after 6:30 a.m. The American Legion wake will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, and VFW wake at 7:15.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating.
