FRED BATTLES

PORTAGEVILLE -- Fred Battles, 72, of Portageville died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at his home.

He was born April 11, 1925, in Nobel, Ark., son of Fred and Goldie Scott Battles. He and June Harrison were married Aug. 27, 1952.

Battles had worked at Richardson Gin in Marston. He was a member of First Methodist Church of Marston.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kim Battles of Jonesboro, Ill.; three daughters, Donna Cook of Temple, Texas, Becky Mayes of Dallas, Texas, Gay St.Mary of Scott City; two brothers, John Battles of Festus, Frank Battles of Mexico, Mo.; two sisters, Malzell Dickinson of Columbia, Wanda Battles of Arnold; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Friends may call at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville after 10 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Revs. Roy Edwards and B.J. Baldwin will officiate, with burial in Portageville Cemetery.
