Franklin D. Jones, 83, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at Harbor Chase Assisted Living.
Franklin was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Stoddard County, Missouri, the son of Fred Luke Jones and Vera Stacey Jones.
Franklin graduated from Gray Ridge High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a master chief aircraft maintenance (AFCM) from Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Three in San Diego. He received the Navy Achievement Medal.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Jones; daughters, Leah Policare and Lisa Robbins; sister, Dorothy Mae (Loren) Wilson; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Jones, G.H. Jones, Edwin Jones and Ollie Jones; and a sister, Ann O'Neal.
Funeral services were Thursday at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors. The Rev. Donnie Ford will officiate.
