Franklin Delano James, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.

He was born May 19, 1933, in Cape Girardeau to the late John Frank and Esther Anita Siemers James.

Franklin served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. He and Wanda Robinson were married June 9, 1957, in Cape Girardeau. She survives.

Franklin was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838, and was a lifelong dairy farmer in Cape Girardeau County. He loved to play cards, was an avid bowler in past years, was known for and loved making homemade ice cream and his favorite thing was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Loving survivors include his wife, Wanda of Cape Girardeau; son, Darryl James of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Karen (David) Rosenburg of Rolla, Missouri; son, Roger James of Cape Girardeau; brothers, John (Georgia) James, Don (Julie) James and Earl James, all of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Marie James; grandchildren, Brandon (Josie) Rosenburg and Kaylie Rosenburg; and great-granddaughter, Loretta Rosenburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Joe James; and sister-in-law, Mary Rose James.

The family will have private services.

Burial, with full military honors, will take place at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701, or charity of choice.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
