MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Franklin Leonard Clay, 80, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 17, 1930, in Hollister, Wis., son of Leonard Dee and Edith Mae Meeks Clay. He and Eathel Maurine Vaughn were married June 27, 1963. She passed away Nov. 6, 2006...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Franklin Leonard Clay, 80, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 17, 1930, in Hollister, Wis., son of Leonard Dee and Edith Mae Meeks Clay. He and Eathel Maurine Vaughn were married June 27, 1963. She passed away Nov. 6, 2006.

Franklin had worked for John Mansville as an assembly line worker, and was of the Southern Baptist belief.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Clay of Marble Hill, Allan Clay of Ringgold, Ga.; a brother, Earl (Debra) Clay of Hollister; four sisters, Vivian Straley of Elton, Wis., Alma (Herman) Albricht of Birnamwood, Wis., Ella Iris of Slinger, Wis., Violet Sprinkler of Texas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Richard; five sisters, Marie Marmes Paine, Gladys Vaughn, Blanche Miller, Grace Kainz and Jean Kainz.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Michael Sowers officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
