Funeral service for Frank Nitsch, 3719 Hopper Road, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
Nitsch, 81, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Aug. 15, 1911, at Jackson, son of Wentzel and Sophia Fischer Nitsch. He and Linda Borgfield were married Dec. 30, 1939, in Cape Girardeau. She died July 5, 1989.
Nitsch farmed 40 years. He was active in baseball and had managed the MFA Slow-Pitch team at Jackson, and umpired baseball in the Jackson area and American Legion baseball. He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, and former member of MFA Board of Directors.
Survivors include three daughters, Elda Siebert and Elsie Peetz, Jackson Route 2, Alice Benton of Jackson; a sister, Anna Wright of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a great-stepgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
