JACKSON, Mo. -- Franklin "Frank" Harris, 65, of Jackson died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 27, 1935, at Leora, Mo., son of James E. and Maude M. Eaker Harris. He and LaDonna Spooner were married May 31, 1955.

Harris was a member of Fruitland Church of Christ. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-74.

He and his family lived in Victoria, Texas, where he owned and operated Acme Saw and Tool, a small-engine repair shop. He and his wife moved to Jackson in 1983. Harris started Heartland Saw and Tool in 1985, retiring in 1996 because of illness.

Harris was a past worshipful master of Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441, past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter in Jackson, and member of Sword of Bunker Hill.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Franklin Harris of Portland, Texas; a sister, Elsie Nesler of St. Louis; and a brother, Virgil Harris of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and six sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Ted Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with graveside rites by a military honor guard.
