SIKESTON - Francis "Tommy" Thompson, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, May 5, 1992 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was 71.
Thompson was born Aug. 18, 1920 at Morganfield, Ky. His parents' names were unknown.
He lived in Scott County for the past 40 years, retiring as a barber. He worked in insurance sales for many years, most recently with Davault Insurance Agency in Cape Girardeau.
Thompson was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston, where served as head usher. Thompson was also a World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion in Sikeston.
On Feb. 10, 1947, he married Mary Blue. She survives in Sikeston.
Survivors include a son, Tom Thompson of Sikeston; a daughter, Mona Toney of Charleston; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston and from 10 a.m. Friday until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. The funeral will be held at Concordia Church. The Rev. Robert Kriete, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
