CAIRO, Ill. -- Floyd "Smitty" Smith Sr., 96, of Cairo, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1993, at the Daystar Care Center in Cairo.
He was born March 21, 1897, at Shoals, Ind., son of Harry Millard and Addie May Manning Smith.
His family moved to Cairo in 1904.
He married Ruby Ellen Wilson, April 14, 1923, at Cairo.
Smith was very active in the First Christian Church of Cairo. He was also a member of the Alexander-Stafford Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows since Aug. 17, 1924.
He belonged to the Rebekah Lodge in Cairo, which consolidated with the Metropolis Rebekah Lodge No. 28.
Smith was a member of the South East Encampment No. 103 of Sikeston, which consolidated with Victory Encampment No. 103 of Farmington, Mo.
He was also a member of the Veterans Club of the Grand Lodge of I.O.O.F., and a life member of the Grand Jurisdictional No. 1, of Lincoln, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, June Minton of Marion, Ill.; four grandchildren; a step-grandchild, a great-grandchild and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill., with the Rev. Richard Pigg officiating.
Burial will follow.
