JACKSON: Mr. Floyd "Pete" V Puchbauer, age 74, of Jackson, passed away at his home east of Oak Ridge, Tuesday, October 26, 1999. He was born December 8, 1924, the son of the late Henry and Frieda (Ludwig) Puchbauer. He married the former LaVerne Lichtenegger on May 15, 1949 at the St. John's Lutheran Church at Pocahontas. She survives.
He is also survived by three sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Kent and Jean Puchbauer of Jackson, Matthew and Nancy Puchbauer of Malden, Mark and Gaye Puchbauer of Jackson; two daughters and 2-sons-in-law, Beverly and Dennis Hemmann of Oak Ridge, Holly and David Thomas of Oak Ridge; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, April and Jeremy Hemmann, Aaron and Laura Puchbauer, Kia and Brett Thomas, Andrew Pete Puchbauer and Leah Puchbauer; one brother, Carlton Puchbauer of Cape Girardeau and one sister, Lillian Palisch of Altenburg. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Puchbauer attended the former Horrell Elementary School and graduated from Oak Ridge High School. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II and thereafter returned to Oak Ridge and farmed the family farm. He was employed for 30 years by Cape Electrical Supply, primarily in sales. He retired in 1991.
He was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church, and remained a member throughout his lifetime. He served on the Church Council and in other various capacities. He was a member ELCA Central States Stewardship Committee and presently was serving on the Old St. John's Cemetery Committee.
He was a member of the American Legion in Jackson. He was a former Advisory Member of the Oak Ridge and Doniphan Schools Districts. He was a former project leader for the Pocahontas 4-H Club.
Friends may call at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson on Thursday, October 28 between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas with burial in the church cemetery. Revs. John Kiehl and Albert Nyland will officiate. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
