FLOYD LAYTON

EAST PRAIRIE -- Floyd Layton, 78, of East Prairie, died Thursday, April 25, 1991, at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1912, in Bloomfield, son of Joe E. and Lillie M. Smith Layton. He and the former Jessie D. Sain were married April 27, 1945.

Layton was employed with Mississippi County Drainage District several years, and was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, J.C. Layton of East Prairie; a daughter, Mary Abernathy of La Center, Ky.; three brothers, Richard Layton of Canalou, Lester Layton of Anniston, Ralph Layton of Cottage Hills, Ill.; a sister, Nancy Johnson of Cottage Hills; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel here. Martha True will officiate, assisted by Burl Britt. Burial will be in Anniston Cemetery.
