JONESBORO, Ill. -- Former Jonesboro Mayor Floyd F. Landreth Jr., 70, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born May 23, 1928, in Cobden, son of Floyd F. and Esther Aldridge Landreth Sr. He and Deloris Dillow were married Nov. 19, 1951, at Ebenezer Church in Jonesboro.
Landreth was an insurance salesman at Jonesboro almost 40 years. He was mayor of Jonesboro eight years, and also farmed.
He had been active in the Lions Club, Anna-Jonesbro High School Board of Education, and Jonesboro City Council. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and had served on its council. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve Landreth of Anna; four daughters, Pam Deasley of Olathe, Kan., Linda Pickett of Waterloo, Charlotte Clover of Cobden, Karen Shakiba of Overland, Mo.; a sister, Mary Winn of Cobden; a brother, Doris Landreth of Cobden; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother and an infant son.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro after 4 p.m. today, and Saturday after 8 a.m.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Church, with Pastor David Eidson officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
