Floyd F. Hobeck, 85, of Friedheim died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson.
He was born April 28, 1920, at Friedheim, son of Elmer and Rettia Barks Hobeck. He and Goldie Henry were married March 13, 1943, at Jackson.
Hobeck was a World War II veteran who was stationed in San Antonio, Texas, while serving the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked for many years as a carpenter for the former David McDowell Construction Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1982. Hobeck also worked on the family farm near Friedheim. He was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church and was a trustee and custodian for more than 20 years. Hobeck was a former member of the Oak Ridge School board.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patsy Ford of Oak Ridge; two sons, James Hobeck of Oak Ridge, Randy Hobeck of Friedheim; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. Interment will be in New Salem United Methodist Cemetery.
