COBDEN, Ill. -- Floyd W. Cates, 75, of Cobden died Monday, June 30, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He and Catherine Rainbolt were married March 3, 1956, at Anna, Ill. Cates worked at Anna Quarries 46 years, retiring Sept. 9, 1999. He attended the Church of God in Anna, and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 318...

COBDEN, Ill. -- Floyd W. Cates, 75, of Cobden died Monday, June 30, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He and Catherine Rainbolt were married March 3, 1956, at Anna, Ill.

Cates worked at Anna Quarries 46 years, retiring Sept. 9, 1999. He attended the Church of God in Anna, and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 318.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill of Palm Springs, Calif., Jett of New Baden, Ill.; two daughters, Starr of Albion, Ill., Dawn of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters, Edna Poole of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., Helen Treece of Anna, Ginny Mears of Cobden; four brothers, Donald Cates of Chicago, Gaylon Cates of Cobden, Ed Cates of Anna, Homer Cates of Fayetteville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, and Friday until service time.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Ruzich officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery.
