Florence Elizabeth Calhoun, 88, of Scott City died Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 23, 1927, in Colterville, Illinois, to Wiley M. and Lula May Connerly Owens. She married James Arthur Calhoun Sr. on Dec. 19, 1943, in Ancell. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 2008.

She worked 20 years at Ralph Edwards Sportswear and was custodian at Illmo Baptist Church for 20 years. She was a member of Illmo Baptist Church in Scott City. She loved bingo, reading, crafts, sewing, Facebook and gardening.

Florence is survived by three daughters, Marsha D. Dohogne of Scott City, Debra (Larry) Kern of Cape Girardeau and Kimberly (Greg) Shambo of Greenview, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Judy Calhoun of Crocker, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Angela LaForest, Pamela Hartline, Mark Dohogne and Elizabeth Dohogne, Lora Cecil, James Ringer, Michele Shelton, Amanda Neighbors, Mia Silkwood and Miles Shambo; 15 great-grandchildren, Robert and Preston Beauchamp, Gracie LaForest, Hunter and Shelton Hartline, Brittany McQuire, Brooke Dohogne, Kristin Bailey, Taylor Cecil, Brittany Shelton, Brooklyn, Ireland and Tucker Neighbors, Jackson and Addison Fagan; and a great-great-grandchild, Kassidy Bailey.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, John Stipes; a son, James A. Calhoun Jr.; twin daughters, Susan and Elizabeth Calhoun; a son-in-law, Butch Dohogne; and two great-grandsons, Tyler LaForest and Joseph Neighbors Jr.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Greg Shambo and Mike Shupert officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
