Flora May "Dickie" Hess, 85, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Monticello House, where she had lived the past four years.
She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Advance, Mo., daughter of William and Esther Kelso Friedrich. She and Bennie Hess were married July 9, 1941. He passed away Dec. 23, 1981.
Dickie worked at the former International Hat Factory in both Oran and Lutesville, Mo., before retiring in 1980 after 35 years. She was a member of Burfordville Baptist Church.
Loving survivors include two sons, Ed (Claudine) Hess of The Villages, Fla., Mike (Sandy) Hess of Jackson; a daughter, Carolyn (Bob) Stokes of Oran; six granddaughters, Gina (Jim) Kuehn, Laura (Mike) Essner, Valerie (Eric) Michelsen, Leslie (Butch) Schlitt, Pam Hess and Janice (Matt) Neuwirth; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Florence Baiter of St. Elmo, Ill., and Freda Mansker of Oran.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Roy Friedrich, and a half brother, Franklin Reams.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Morris Cobb officiating. Interment will be in Perkins Cemetery in Perkins, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
