Fieldon Burge Miller, 55, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born April 12, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Fieldon M. and Irene Burge Miller.
Miller was a graduate of Central High School. He won the national and regional science fair award for physics in 1964. He received a bachelor of science degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and was on the Dean's List with a 4.0 grade average. He earned a master's degree in mathematics and art from Wayne State University.
He was a member of M.E.N.S.A. International for the top 1 percent in I.Q. He won the award for most outstanding in the field of aerospace sciences from the U.S. Air Force. He received an award from Rotary Club of Cape Girardeau for academic excellence in the upper 10 percent of his graduating class. He received the Navy Science Cruiser Award.
Survivors include a brother, Brian F. Miller of Jackson, Mo.; a sister, Susan Schweain of Jackson; three nieces, Sandra S. Banderet of High Ridge, Mo., Maegan E. Jensen of Jackson, Amber K. Miller of Jackson; four nephews, Jerry R. Schweain Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Rick L. Schweain of Gordonville, Mo., John D. Schweain of Cape Girardeau, and Bryan M. Miller of Lehigh Acres, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, J. Carolyn Miller Oct. 8, 1992.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lorimier Cemetery.
