Fidelia Jane Brooks, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Aug. 4, 1903, in Kinsman, Ohio, daughter of Robert Harold and Lovicy Moran Wallace. She and Clifton J. Brooks were married Sept. 3, 1935, in Kinsman. He died Oct. 7, 1993.
Fidelia attended Grove City College and earned a teaching degree from Kent State University. She taught elementary school in Elyria and Hiram, Ohio. She played viola with Hiram College Orchestra.
She was a member of Hiram Christian Church and sang in the choir, and was a member of Hiram Women's Club and Hiram Research Club.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Beverly Brooks of Carbondale, Ill., David and Inga Brooks of Grandbury, Texas, Donald and Gisela Brooks of Riverdale, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Harold Wallace; and a sister, Ruth Wallace Baggaley.
There is no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Hiram Christian Church in Hiram, Ohio. Burial will be in Kinsman Cemetery in Kinsman, Ohio.
