JACKSON -- Fern Johns, 76, of Jackson, died Friday, June 9, 1995, at her home.
She was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Wayne County, daughter of Newton B. and Elizabeth E. Cotner Sample. She and Cleo Johns were married March 10, 1937.
Johns had worked at Kroger Egg Plant, Lee-Rowan, and as a cook on a riverboat for Nilo Barge Co., Grable Barge Co. and Kentucky Navigation, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Cleo Johns of Jackson; a daughter, Chloe Ann Johns of Jackson; a brother, Raymond Sample of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
