FERN DAVIS

JACKSON -- Fern J. Davis, 86, of Jackson, died Thursday, April 11, 1996, at the home of a daughter in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 6, 1910, at Neelys Landing, daughter of John C. and Nora E. Clingingsmith Craft. She and Ivan H. Davis were married July 13, 1929.

Davis worked at Emerson Electric in St. Louis, then in the Ferguson School cafeteria, and moved to the farm in the New Bethel area in 1958. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Richard Davis of Sturgeon, Clyde "Ed" Davis of Houston, Texas, Gene Davis of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Nora Lawrence of Cape Girardeau, Evelyn Elves of Hazelwood; a brother, John Craft of Sullivan; three sisters, Violet Wiggins of Jackson, Roxie Kenter of St. Louis, Lillie Wessling of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Church Cemetery.
