Ferdinand Michael John "Fred" Wallrath, 88, of Jackson died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at his home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1926, in St. Louis, son of Alfons and Emma Wallrath. He married Mildred Bernice Brooks on March 17, 1962, in Ringo, Georgia. She preceded him in death.
Fred served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the American Legion and a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, where he served as a deacon. Fred farmed all his life and was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved to garden and fish.
Survivors include a daughter, Millie (Don) Rapp of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; a sister, Laverne Brooks of Cole Camp, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Lindsey (Jameson) Walker of Alexandria, Virginia, and Dustin Rapp of Fort Collins, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother-in-law, William Brooks.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at First Baptist Church in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with full military honors by Missouri Honor Guard.
