ALTENBURG -- Ferdinand E. Steffens, 93, of Altenburg died Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994, at Perry Oaks Nursing Home in Perryville.
He was born May 6, 1901, in Wittenberg, the son of Klaus and Pauline Ghurm Steffens. On June 12, 1927, he married Emma Koenig, who survives in Perryville.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg and the local senior citizens club.
Other survivors include five sons, Vernon and Larry Steffens, both of Frohna, Clinton Steffens of Chicago, Ill., Kenneth Steffens of Altenburg and Melbert Steffens of Imperial; two daughters, Vera Noennig of Black Jack and Geraldine Kaufman of Frohna; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers, three sisters, a stepsister and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg. Friends may also call between 6:30 and 9 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. The Rev. Willard Kassulke will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.
