Fate L. Kester, 82, of Oak Ridge died Saturday July 12, 1997, at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1914, in Kurreville, the son of Bennett and Carrie Avis Suhr Kester. On June 25, 1960, he married Wilma Mungle.
He was a farm hand, worked in timber and worked for the former LaPierre Sawyer Sawmill in Jackson.
He belonged to the former Kurreville Lutheran Church.
He and his wife moved in with their daughter in Oak Ridge a year ago after living in Millersville.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Betty McIntyre of Oak Ridge; a brother, John Kester of Cape Girardeau; a half-brother, J.G. Kester of Jackson; a half-sister, Juanita Moore of Jackson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, grandson, brother and sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Newell officiating. Burial will be in the Kurreville Cemetery.
