CHARLESTON -- Fannie M. Moss, 76, of Charleston died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Covington, Tenn., the daughter of Walter and Lela Woodall Hemphill. In 1935, she married Louis Moss, who preceded her in death in 1984...

CHARLESTON -- Fannie M. Moss, 76, of Charleston died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Covington, Tenn., the daughter of Walter and Lela Woodall Hemphill. In 1935, she married Louis Moss, who preceded her in death in 1984.

Moss lived in Missouri for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Pinhook, where she served on the Mother's Board.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Moss of Indianapolis, Ind., Eugene Moss of Washington, D.C., James Moss of Charleston, Carl Moss of Akron, Ohio, and Nathaniel Moss of Sikeston; four daughters, Ernestine Gladney and Hazel Moss of Akron, Clara Moss Fonville of Warren, Ohio, and Betty Austin of North Olmsted, Ohio; one sister, Clara Walker of Nashville, Tenn.; 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters and one brother.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at the Union Baptist Church in Pinhook with the Rev. Melvin Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.

Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
