DONGOLA, Ill. -- Everett R. "Chief" RedCloud Jr., 73, of Dongola died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Union County, son of Everett and Alice Jenkins RedCloud. He and Naomi Ruth Sullens were married Aug. 2, 1952.
RedCloud was a former heavy equipment operator in the mining industry, was a member and financial secretary for the local United Mine Workers Association, was a truck driver and sign painter. He was a member of Dongola Lodge 581 AF&AM.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger RedCloud of Dongola; a daughter, Sandra RedCloud of Dongola; two brothers, Charles RedCloud of Elco, Ill., Robert RedCloud of Ozark, Ala.; two sisters, Helen Severs and Mary Robinson of Ullin, Ill.; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and Friday until time of service.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Freeman officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery at Mound City, Ill., with military graveside honors by Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.
