SIKESTON -- Everett Hoggatt, 88, of Sikeston died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1909, at Fay, Okla., son of Everett and Nancy Cooprider Hoggatt. He and Freeda Hairston were married Feb. 28, 1942. Hoggatt lived near Morehouse most of his life. He farmed and worked at a cotton gin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II...

SIKESTON -- Everett Hoggatt, 88, of Sikeston died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born June 4, 1909, at Fay, Okla., son of Everett and Nancy Cooprider Hoggatt. He and Freeda Hairston were married Feb. 28, 1942.

Hoggatt lived near Morehouse most of his life. He farmed and worked at a cotton gin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Benjamin Hoggatt of East Prairie; four daughters, Nancy Sterling of Sikeston, Veeda Womack of Festus, Glennie Moore of East Prairie, Jackie Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Cora Yearwood of Pampa, Texas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Jim Guffey and Bart Blackwelder officiating. Burial will be in Matthews Cemetery, with graveside rites by American Legion Post 153 in Poplar Bluff.
