Evelyn M. Walker, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Concordia, Kan., daughter of James E. and Doris Viola Kindel Green. She and William E. Walker Jr. were married Aug. 7, 1955, in Cape Girardeau. Her husband, William E. Walker Jr., preceded her in death March 7, 1985.
Evelyn graduated form Central High School and Cape Gir-ardeau was her lifetime home. She worked as an assistant to Dr. James Kinder and Dr. Rasche. She later married William Ernest Walker Jr., founder of Products Engineering Co. of Cape Girardeau. Upon his death she was appointed CEO and continued its operation with her son, William E. Walker III. She remained involved in their commercial real estate investments until her death.
Evelyn attended St. Andrew Lutheran Church and was active in GFWC Quest Club, River Hills Garden Club, CGCC Women's Golf Association, and was twice president of the GS PEO Chapter of which she was a 50-year member.
She is survived by a son, William E. Walker III of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Bonnie Stewart and husband Alan of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Green Myers and husband Donald H. of Birmingham, Ala.; two grandchildren, Justin Stewart of San Diego, Daren Stewart of Kansas City; and special friend and companion, Earl W. Kirchhoff of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Robert L. Green.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
