Evelyn Emma Thiele, 86, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home, where she was a resident the last two months.
She was born June 11, 1926, in Drum, Mo., daughter of Henry and Minnie Stoverink Holweg. She and Edwin George Thiele were married Aug. 17, 1946, in Leopold, Mo. He passed away June 11, 2006.
Evelyn was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and St. Ann's Sodality. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Loving survivors include five sons, Edwin P. (Doris) Thiele and Rick Thiele of Jackson, Larry Thiele of Cape Girardeau, Tim (Cindy) Thiele of Benton, Mo., and Chuck (Donna) Thiele of Marianna, Fla.; five daughters, Angie (Ken) Mirly of Issaquah, Wash., Gerrie (Don) Sandin of Jackson, Jody (Richard) Hahn of Advance, Mo., Diane (Lee) Moore and Nancy Stearns of Perryville, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Josephine Holweg of Leopold; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and loving husband of 59 years, she was preceded in death by four infant sons; a great-grandson, Ayden Michael Thiele; two brothers, Henry and Elmer Holweg; three infant brothers; two sisters, Mary Jansen and Anna Macke; and a son-in-law, Rick Stearns.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7, immediately followed by the rosary led by St. Ann's Sodality.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund or Masses in her memory.
