CAIRO, Ill. -- Evelyn Snyder, 93, of Cairo died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Nov. 5, 1904, in Cairo, daughter of Richard and Caroline Franz Jones.
Snyder worked at Cairo Public Library 38 years, and was librarian 24 of those years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar Guild, Cairo Women's Club, Cairo Business and Professional Women's Club, Cairo Historical Association, and Cairo Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Snyder of Cairo, Joseph Snyder of Garrison, N.D.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
