THEBES, Ill. -- Evelyn Schlamer, 85, of Thebes passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 21, 1932, in Villa Ridge, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Nellie Vines Clifford. She married Dick Schlamer on April 10, 1952. He preceded her in death April 23, 2013.
Evelyn worked for Del Farm Food Store in Cape Girardeau for over 32 years. She was a member of the Pulaski Alexander Home Extension and Local 665 of United Food and Commercial Workers. Evelyn was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Peter) Foote of Cape Girardeau; a son, Sam (Mary Ellen) Schlamer of Thebes; grandsons, Jacob Brent (Jessica) Schlamer and Jordan Luke Schlamer; great-granddaughter, Layken Schlamer; and nieces and nephews, including special niece, Beverly Whitmore and special nephew, Alan Schlamer; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bud Clifford; and sisters, Frances Billingsley, Minnie Maxwell and Maebelle Andrews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
