McCLURE, Ill. -- Evelyn Matlock, 85, of McClure died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Jonesboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Jonesboro, Illinois. She was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Blodgett, Missouri, to Claude and Mayme Jane Chappell Taylor. She and Rollie S. Matlock were married in December 1952 in Paragould, Arkansas. McCLURE, Ill. -- Evelyn Matlock, 85, of McClure died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at Jonesboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Jonesboro, Illinois.

She was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Blodgett, Missouri, to Claude and Mayme Jane Chappell Taylor. She and Rollie S. Matlock were married in December 1952 in Paragould, Arkansas. He passed away May 25, 2014.

Evelyn worked at Davis Electric in her youth, later becoming a beautician before going on to become a licensed practical nurse, working at Saint Francis Medical Center. Her love of children led her to be a CASA volunteer upon retirement.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of McClure Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Rollie B. (Kathy) Matlock of Jackson and James K. (Darla) Matlock of McClure; a daughter, Denise Leigh Matlock of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Beryl Taylor of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Randy Morgan officiating. Private burial will be Tuesday at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.

Memorial contributions may be given to McClure Baptist Church.
