Evelyn Dake, 84, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.
She was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Gordonville, daughter of Joe and Pearl Bruner Skelton. She and Bernard Dake were married Aug. 17, 1968, at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. He passed away June 9, 1981.
Evelyn grew up in the Gordonville area. She was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, being baptized, confirmed and married at the church and a member until her passing.
She attended Gordonville Elementary School and graduated from Jackson High School in 1950.
She lived in Jackson for 35-plus years.
Evelyn was a CNA at Deal Nursing Home and Monticello House in Jackson and at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Evelyn enjoyed gardening and her flowers.
Loving survivors include five daughters, Patty (Gary) Matlock of Pocahontas, Becky (the late Don) Thorne and Connie (Roger) Adams of Jackson, Donna (Russ) Whitworth of Chaffee, Missouri, and Tanya (Timothy) Cooper of Sikeston, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Charlie (Carrie) Skelton of Gordonville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; a grandson, Gary Matlock Jr. in 2011; a great-grandson, Ethan Adams in 2010; a nephew, Brad Skelton in 2008; two brothers, Harold and Leo Skelton; and a sister, Pauline Naylor.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gordonville.
