Eva Sherfield Magill, 89, of Atlanta, Ga., died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.

She was born Feb. 13, 1913, in Lepanto, Ark., daughter of Van and Mollie Sherfield. She and Roy Miller Magill were married June 22, 1940, in Farmington, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1984.

Mrs. Magill was a graduate of Fornfelt High School in 1930. Her desire was to be a teacher and she started college at Southeast Missouri State at the age of 16.

Her first teaching job was at Gray's Point, Mo., after only one year of college. She returned to Southeast Missouri State College off and on as money and opportunity would permit, graduating in 1948.

Most of her teaching career was spent in Kirkwood, Mo., where she retired in 1972 after receiving the Certificate of Merit from the Kirkwood School District.

She moved to Georgia in 1985 to be with her daughter, the Rev. Sidney Magill-Linquist, who survives of Atlanta.

In addition to her husband, Roy, she was preceded by a brother, Lester Sherfield; three sisters, Hazel Allen, Irma Agnes "Johnnie" Boyer and Nonita Encoff.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, 2002, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Memorial service will follow at 11 with the Rev. Sidney Magill-Linquist officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
