Eunice Eugene Amelunke, 91, of Gordonville died Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born March 5, 1919, in Hamilton, Texas, daughter to Melvin Eugene and Grace Amanda Harris Boatwright. She married Alvin Amelunke on Nov. 13, 1936. He preceded her in death May 27, 1981...

Eunice Eugene Amelunke, 91, of Gordonville died Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 5, 1919, in Hamilton, Texas, daughter to Melvin Eugene and Grace Amanda Harris Boatwright. She married Alvin Amelunke on Nov. 13, 1936. He preceded her in death May 27, 1981.

Eunice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Tilsit since 1952.

She worked at the former Florsheim Shoe company in Cape Girardeau, IGA bakery in Jackson, Holiday Inn and Southeast Missouri State University in housekeeping. She also worked as an in-home caretaker for elderly women before she retired at age 78.

She is survived by three sons, Charlie (Ella Mae) Amelunke, Perry (Jolene) Amelunke, both of Whitewater, Earl Amelunke of Gordonville; three daughters, Ruby Needham and Kathy Bellew both of Fredericktown, Mo., Nancy (Jerry) Hester of Jackson; two brothers, Felix Boatwright of Bloomington, Ind., James Boatwright of Phoenix; two sisters, Mary McCluskey of Stephenville, Texas, Thelma Joe Gooseman of Dublin, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Amelunke of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Bob; two brothers, Orn and Mildard; a sister, Mildred; two grandchildren, Ryan and Greggery Amelunke; son-in-law Glen Needham.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Boettcher officiating.

Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
