LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Eugene Stoverink, 61, of Leopold died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 3, 1947, in Leopold, son of Lawrence H. and Magdalen Hinkebein Stoverink. He and Linda Nenninger were married Oct. 28, 1972, at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.
Stoverink worked as a carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of St. Isidore Council 5898 of Knights of Columbus at Leopold.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Rodney (Sharon) Stoverink of Belton, Mo.; a daughter, Amanda Stoverink of Leopold; his mother, Magdalen Stoverink of Leopold; five brothers, Tony and Edgar Stoverink of Leopold, Steve Stoverink of Malden, Mo., Alan and Terry Stoverink of Marble Hill, Mo.; five sisters, Geraldine Bohnsack of Whitewater, Kathy Chapman of Benton, Ark., Dorothy VanGennip of Marble Hill, Susie Lukefahr of Leopold, Patsy Birk of Gordonville; and two grandchildren, Bethany and Joseph Stoverink.
Preceding him in death were his father, Lawrence Stoverink, and a brother, Arnold Stoverink.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with full military rites provided by Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 5900.
Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
