Eugene May, 59, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his home. He was born March 12, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of J.C. and Cleo Dabbs May. He and Barbara J. Gooch were married May 20, 1961, in Cape Girardeau. May was a truck driver with Roberts, Delta Express in Cape Girardeau, and Heavy Duty Trux in Bloomfield, Mo. He was an independent contractor for the Southeast Missourian Newspaper, retiring in 1999...

Eugene May, 59, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his home.

He was born March 12, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, son of J.C. and Cleo Dabbs May. He and Barbara J. Gooch were married May 20, 1961, in Cape Girardeau.

May was a truck driver with Roberts, Delta Express in Cape Girardeau, and Heavy Duty Trux in Bloomfield, Mo. He was an independent contractor for the Southeast Missourian Newspaper, retiring in 1999.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vickie May of Cape Girardeau, Sherry Shelton of St. Peters, Mo.; a son, Leland E. May II of Allenville, Mo.; two brothers, Bruce May of Sterling, Ill., J.C. Wayne May of Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Lee Roy Quinn officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
