Eugene Huebel

Eugene Huebel, 82, of Murray, Ky., died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray.

He was born Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, son of William A. and Clara Hartung Huebel.

He and Marcella Huebel were married May 5, 1945, at Little Rock, Ark.

He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He had worked at Jim Wilson Co. in Cape for 26 years. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape.

Survivors include his spouse of 64 years, Marcella Huebel of Murray; a son, Tom Huebel (Barbara) of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters Katherine Huebel Lichtenegger of Cape Girardeau and Elizabeth Williams (Jimmy) of Murray; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Saxony Lutheran High School or to the Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund.
