PERRYVILLE -- Eugene "Gene" Balsman, 68, of Perryville, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 1994, at the Perry County Hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Perry County, son of Barney and Ida Trapp Balsman. He married Theresa Kohlfeld, Sept. 27, 1952. Balsman was a retired restaurant owner...

PERRYVILLE -- Eugene "Gene" Balsman, 68, of Perryville, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 1994, at the Perry County Hospital.

He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Perry County, son of Barney and Ida Trapp Balsman.

He married Theresa Kohlfeld, Sept. 27, 1952.

Balsman was a retired restaurant owner.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kevin Balsman of Elgin, Ill., Greg Balsman of Perryville, Steve Balsman of Belleville, Ill.; three daughters, Gwen Darin, Rhonda Hagan and Audrey L'Hote, all of Perryville; a brother, Walter Balsman of Perryville; and 14 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today and from 6:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral mass will be at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz and the Rev. John Bolderson officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Apple Creek.
