JACKSON -- Funeral service for Eugene C. McCleary, 80, of Hannibal, was held June 5 at James O'Donnell Funeral Home there. The Rev. Edwin Schmidt officiated, with burial in Grand View Burial Park. McCleary died Sunday, June 2, 1991, at his home. He was born March 23, 1911, in Louisiana, son of William R. and Jessie F. Phelps McCleary. He and the former Nellie Mae Leake were married Nov. 29, 1933, at Hannibal. She died Dec. 15, 1966...

McCleary died Sunday, June 2, 1991, at his home.

He was born March 23, 1911, in Louisiana, son of William R. and Jessie F. Phelps McCleary. He and the former Nellie Mae Leake were married Nov. 29, 1933, at Hannibal. She died Dec. 15, 1966.

McCleary had been a painter here, and retired from International Shoe Co. in Jackson. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Gill of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Vera Rhino of Hannibal, and two grandchildren.
