Eugene and Teresa Triller

Eugene E. Triller, 77, and Teresa M. Triller, 79, of Smithton, Ill., died Monday, March 2, 2009, in Orlando, Fla., as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born May 25, 1931, in Cape Girardeau, son of Hugo and Christina Buchheit Triller.

Triller retired as an assistant vice president of Magna Bank in Belleville, Ill., where he worked more than 40 years. He also served as Smithton Township clerk more than 25 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Smithton and the Holy Name Society, Smithton Turner Society and Smithton American Legion Post 937.

Triller was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Mrs. Triller was born March 14, 1929, in DuBois, Ill., daughter of John and Mary Dudek Majewski.

Teresa Triller

She was a 4-H leader 20 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. John's Women's Club and Smithton Turner Auxiliary.

Surviving the couple are four children, Linda Schindelar of Ashley, Ill., Mark Triller of Belleville, Christine Masson of Bonne Terre, Mo., Cindy Grohmann of Red Bud, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

Triller is also survived by three brothers, Dennis Triller of Florissant, Mo., Leon Triller of St. Louis, Gerald Triller of Perryville, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Lou Berkbigler and Bernita Light of Biehle, Mo.

Mrs. Triller is survived by four sisters, Florence Stelmar of California, Delphine Feldmann of St. Peters, Mo., Camille Lee of Affton, Mo., and Severine Czerniejewski of Ashley.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Smithton. An American Legion ritual will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Gerald Hechenberger officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
