Etta Mae Smith, 81, of Scott City died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at Beverly Health & Rehabilitation Services of Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 20, 1916, in Commerce to Daniel and Lily Hope Warren. On March 4, 1933, she married Roy Tillman Smith in Illmo. He died Aug. 16, 1971.

She was a machine operator at the Ely Walker and as a cook on a towboat for Alter Towing Co.

She was a former member of Illmo Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Russell Smith of Olive Branch, Ill.; a sister, Flora Hurlburt of Hialeah, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. William Dickey officiating. Interment will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
