BENTON -- Etta Mae Frobase, 88, of Benton died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Jan. 27, 1909, in Newnan, Ga., daughter of Elisha and Jennie Lou Tomlin Pitman. She and Chester H. Frobase were married April 4, 1932, at Benton. He died Nov. 15, 1973...

BENTON -- Etta Mae Frobase, 88, of Benton died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Jan. 27, 1909, in Newnan, Ga., daughter of Elisha and Jennie Lou Tomlin Pitman. She and Chester H. Frobase were married April 4, 1932, at Benton. He died Nov. 15, 1973.

Frobase was a member of Chaffee High School and Atlanta Business College.

She and her husband owned and operated Frobase Restaurant in Benton 25 years, and the Frobase Theater 15 years. Later, the couple and their son Tom owned and operated Moore-Harris Abstract Co. 10 years.

Frobase worked in the Scott County Courthouse 61 years, retiring in 1988. She served in the Probate Office, Circuit Clerk's Office, Assessor's Office, and Treasurer's Office.

She was a member of Benton United Methodist Church, Riverside Regional Library Board, and Benton Senior Housing Committee. She was a volunteer with Scott City Nutrition Center and Ladies Auxiliary at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Frobase served as president of Southeast Missouri District PTA, matron of Morley Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and worthy high priest of Calvary White Shrine in Cape Girardeau. She also had been a Democrtic committeewoman of Moreland Township.

Survivors include a son, Tom Frobase of Benton; two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Benton Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Earl Statler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
