Etson Charles Steele, 43, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Barnes Hospital at St. Louis.
He was born March 17, 1956, at Cape Girardeau, son of Leslie William and Gladys Hellwegge Steele. He and Jane Wibbenmeyer were married Sept. 4, 1976, at Perryville.
Steele was a carpenter all his life. He worked for McGrath and Associates for the last 15 years. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 5 at St. Louis and was also a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Cape Girardeau; a son, Wesley Charles Steele of the home; a daughter, Kelsey Jo Steele of the home; and four brothers, John Wayne Steele of Klute, Texas, Leslie William Steele Jr. of Jefferson City, Stephen Don Steele of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Terry Lynn Steele of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. with the rosary following.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Revs. Richard Rolwing and Kevin Fausz will officiate, with burial to follow at Cape County Memorial Park.
