Ethel Schwab, 90, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Villa Marie Nursing Home in Jefferson City, where she had resided since March. She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Lixville, Mo., daughter of Louis Henry and Ida Bollinger Fellows. She and Manford Schwab were married Oct. 8, 1936. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1985...

Ethel Schwab, 90, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Villa Marie Nursing Home in Jefferson City, where she had resided since March.

She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Lixville, Mo., daughter of Louis Henry and Ida Bollinger Fellows. She and Manford Schwab were married Oct. 8, 1936. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1985.

Ethel and Manford resided in Jackson, where they co-owned and operated the former Schwab and Eakins Jewelry Store from 1947 to 1978, and were members of Emanuel United Church of Christ. Ethel also worked as a cook at the high school. Following Manford's death in 1985, she moved to Jefferson City and lived with their daughter. Still a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, she enjoyed attending the Central United Church of Christ in Jefferson City.

Loving survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Rick Petitt of Jefferson City; two grandsons, Rick Petitt and wife Elizabeth of Lebanon, Ohio, Patrick Petitt of Granite City, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy Proffer and husband Clann of Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Madonna Fellows of Jackson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Fellows; and two sisters, Violet Hartle and Ella Oster.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Jackson City Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
