ADVANCE, Mo. — Ethel P. Long, 89, of Advance died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the home of a daughter in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 7, 1919, at Brownwood, Mo., daughter of James Earl and Ada Osborne McDowell. She and John Henry Long were married Jan. 17, 1935, at Brownwood. He died March 24, 1999.
Long worked 32 years at Inland Shoe Co. as a machine operator and in the fitting room. She was a member of Calvary Cornerstone Church.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Long of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; two daughters, Margaret Nix of Jackson, Verna Downen of Cape Girardeau; a brother, James McDowell of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, five brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be in Greenbrier Cemetery at Greenbrier, Mo.
