GIPSY, Mo. -- Ethel Marie Lemons, 90, of Gipsy died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 13, 1916, in Stoddard County, Mo., daughter of Wesley and Hattie Ritchey Porter. She and William H. Lemons were married Jan. 14, 1936, at Gipsy. He died Aug. 16, 2002.
Lemons was a faithful member of Berrong General Baptist Church in Gipsy. A wonderful homemaker and great cook, she also enjoyed gardening and quilting. Most of all she enjoyed caring for her family.
Survivors include six sons, Truman (Ruby) Lemons of Cape Girardeau; Charles (Joyce) Lemons of Marble Hill, Mo., Ivan (Phyllis) Lemons of Zalma, Mo., Harold (Barbara) Lemons of Sturdivant, Mo., Tommy (Carol) Lemons of Zalma, Terry (Lydia) Lemons of Scott City; six daughters, Dorothy (Gene) Carver of McGee, Mo., Shirley (Bill) Chestnut of Burfordville, Ruth (LeeRoy) Hefner of McGee, Linda (Doug) Siler of Puxico, Mo., Peggy (Darrell) Stepp of Arab, Mo., Barbara (Jim) Masters of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Lois Barrett of Advance, Mo; 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, a grandson, a granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel at Advance.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. LeeRoy Hefner officiating.
Interment will be at Berrong Cemetery at Gipsy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berrong Church Building Fund.
