BLOOMFIELD - Ethel Jane Bess, 94, of Bloomfield, died Friday, Nov. 12, at the Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
She was born in Bloomfield on June 24, 1899, to Thomas J. and Addie Chasteen Evans.
On Jan. 11, 1919, she married George Bess. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1979.
Survivors include one son, Charles Bess of Canalou; one sister, Iva Stephens of Dexter; two brothers, George Evans of Portland, Ore., and Elvis Evans of Dayton, Ohio. One grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Bess was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield.
Friends may call after 6 p.m., today, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 2 p.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloofmfield, with the Rev. Harold Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
