ETHEL ESSEX

PULASKI, Ill. -- Ethel Essex, 104, Pulaski Route 1, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1993, at Community Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla.

She was born April 15, 1889, in Villa Ridge, daughter of William Eli and Sarah Catherine Lentz Hennington. She married Joseph Oliver Essex April 10, 1908. He died Aug. 28, 1975.

Essex taught at Round Pond School near Grand Chain, and at Meridian School near Villa Ridge. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, taught Sunday School 35 years, and was a 74-year member of Caledonia Chapter Order of Eastern Star 587, all in Pulaski.

Survivors include a son, Joe Essex of Pulaski; three daughters, Verna Minton of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Wanda Campbell of Mounds, Eileen Henderson of New Port Richey; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Church. The Revs. John Kern and R. Lorn Robinson will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge after 5 p.m. Friday, and at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
