OAK RIDGE -- Ethel E. Byrd, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 1, 1912, at Greenbrier, daughter of John B. and Nellie V. Dixon Lloyd. She and William Lee Byrd were married June 20, 1931. He died Jan. 30, 1989.
Byrd had been a salesclerk and department manager at Montgomery Ward and J.C. Penney in Cape Girardeau.
She moved to the Oak Ridge area from Greenbrier in 1930. She was a member of Old Salem United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Oak Ridge Homemakers Club.
Byrd was a former member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church and former youth leader at the church and in the district. She had also been a member and volunteer with the Cape County Welfare Board.
Survivors include a son, Jack Byrd of Oak Ridge; three brothers, Jack Lloyd of Greenbrier, John Lloyd of Cuba, Mo., Ray Lloyd of Advance; four granddaughters, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Rister officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery.
